Last Year: 8/2 | Please join Big Tyme Productions and The Boilermaker Jazz Band on Saturday, August 2, 2008 for The 2nd Annual White Party (Summer White Attire) and Fashion Show! This is the first year for a fashion event and we plan to showcase some beautiful ladies and handsome gents that will all come from our swing/lindy community. While white attire is not mandatory it is strongly encouraged. Last year's event looked beautiful and definitely had a light and festive mood. This event will get underway with a dance lesson starting at 7:00 PM. The Boilermakers will take the stage at 8:30 and we should see some beautiful ladies strut their stuff in a first ever fashion event produced by Wendy Nassen and we will also receive a real nice surprise with an all female Charleston Troupe put forth by The Galaxie! The festivities will take place at The "New", spacious and beautiful, May I Have This Dance Studio 5246 N. Elston Avenue on the 2nd level in Chicago. June 12 - August 24, 2008 Chicago SummerDance is an eleven-week festival featuring one-hour dance lessons by professional instructors, followed by two hours of live music and dancing on a 4,600 square foot, open-air, recycled dance floor in the Spirit of Music Garden in Grant Park, 601 S. Michigan Ave. SummerDance events occur every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening, 6 to 9:30 pm, and Sunday afternoon, 4 to 7 pm, weather-permitting. Chicago SummerDance is formatted into themes featuring world music ensembles on Thursdays; “popular nights” including jazz, Latin, country and funk on Fridays and Saturdays; and ballroom/big band on Sundays. Oct. 3 - 5, 2008WCLX has brought dancers, bands, DJs, and instructors from all over the world to Chicago to enjoy the local venues, food, attractions, music, and dancers. WCLX has been run for the past five years by the Illinois not-for-profit organization the Chicago Swing Music Festival NFP whose mission it is "to preserve the heritage of the American vernacular dance forms of swing and lindy hop and to develop programs which promote an understanding and cultural awareness of these dance forms in particular and of swing music in general". Taking place on October 3 - 5, 2008, WCLX9 will feature amazing live bands, historic venues, and inspirational dancing. |
