A grand New Year’s Eve party
at the Willowbrook Ballroom

Ballroom promises an old-fashioned good time

Since 1921, Willowbrook Ballroom has been a vibrant and exciting part of the Chicagoland dance and social scene. What better way to celebrate one of the most exciting nights of the year, New Year’s Eve, than to dance directly into 2009 - Willowbrook Ballroom style.

Of course, New Year’s Eve 2008, celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 31, will be extraordinary because, according to owners Birute and Gedas Jodwalis, the ballroom has been the site of some of the best New Year’s Eve parties in the Midwest for almost seven decades.

The first New Year’s Eve was celebrated in 1939, prior to World War II. That’s a long, long time ago, but the ambiance and music for 2008 is every bit as magical.

“Since Willowbrook is one of only five grand ballrooms still committed to dancing remaining in the United States, what a wonderful place to celebrate and to ring in the New Year,” said Birute Jodwalis. “We are very excited about what we can offer people looking for an old-fashioned, yet exciting way to greet the New Year.”

Three plans reflect this very special night of nights:

The Dining and Ballroom Dancing Plan - Dinner at 7:30 p.m. includes a choice of entrée, prime filet with cold water lobster or prime filet and salmon. Both entrée’s come with gourmet salad, double baked potato, fresh asparagus, a reserved table, and wine. Dancing begins at 9 p.m. to the big band sounds of the one and only Teddy Lee Orchestra. Teddy Lee, who is known as “Mr. New Years Eve,” and his 13-piece orchestra have been performing at the Willowbrook Ballroom for 51 years. The stroke of midnight brings complimentary champagne, party hats, horns and a magnificent balloon drop. Prior to Dec. 15th, the cost ranges from $90-$120 per person depending on the entrée. After Dec. 15th, tickets range from $100 - $130.

Ballroom Dancing Only Plan – Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and dancing begins at 9 p.m. Dancing only includes music of the Teddy Lee Orchestra, snacks, coffee and cookies, a balloon drop and party favors. The cost is $40 per person in advance; $50 at the door.

Swing Dance Options – D.J. Carl will be playing jumpin’ jivin’ music all night long in the Bunkeris Lounge. A dining and dancing plan is offered for $45 at 8 p.m. and includes salad, pasta salad, mashed potatoes, vegetables, mostaccioli, wild rice, sirloin of beef, chicken in lemon basil sauce, and dessert. A dancing only option beings at 9 p.m. and is $25.

New Year’s Eve is a very special night at a very special place - one of America’s last and finest ballrooms. Everyone is warmly welcome. Most people wear formal or dressy attire.

Founded in 1921, the Willowbrook Ballroom proudly bears the distinction of being one of only five ballrooms of its magnitude remaining in the United States that is still committed to dancing. The Willowbrook Ballroom features a 6,000 square-foot dance floor. Singles and couples of all ages are invited to dances and classes. Dance lessons are complimentary with price of admission.
