Lindy Exchanges and Swing Dance Festivals 2011

This year's event is January 14th - 16th, 2010 with a pre-exchange party on the 13th. This is our 10th Anniversary and are pulling out all of the stops. Saturday night's dance will be Vintage Themed.

The South Florida Lindy exchange has been organized by the members of Swing Affair for the past 9 years

SoFLeX occurs every January in South Florida - the dances vary from Miami to Fort Lauderdale - and even one at the beach.

The Orlando Lindy Exchange is a fun-filled weekend of swing dancing. Now on its fourth iteration, The Orlando Lindy Exchange has a proven history of being a fantastic swing event, perfect for the lindyhop enthusiast.

The Portland Lindy Society — your local nonprofit swing organization — is gearing up for the 2011 Portland Lindy Exchange! Be sure and keep March 4-6th reserved on your calendar!!!

We're going to be bringing you 3 days and 4 nights of dancing, music, and fun! We're bringing you, not 5, not 6, but SEVEN amazing bands as well as featuring our own local DJs.

We hope you are gearing up to learn more and dance more. We are planning plenty of both. Mark your calendar for March 11th, 12th, and 13th 2011 for three nights and two days of solid blues magic.

This year we have a coast to coast lineup of the most terrific blues instruction available. From West Coast to East, we are featuring

Plus! Two of Pittsburgh's most talented Blues bands: Ms Freddie with Blue Faze and The Billy Price Band performing Friday and Saturday Evenings.

When the Bands are resting, you can keep with great DJ's from all regions. Watch the top dancers at two Jack & Jill competition, and find your favorite dancers at three late night dances.

This is our 6th edition of “Le Hot Sauce,” which started out about 4 years ago here in the Bay area. We are bringing this event to you to help give you a wonderful dancing experience & share with you the following: Highly skilled instructors, Fantastic Classes with different levels in Lindy & Balboa, Specialty tasters, The Jack N Jill Spectacular Spectacular, LIVE MUSIC, lots of social dancing, Chips & Salsa, Special Performances, a chance to meet new people on the dance floor, a chance to gather with friends, & an energetic vibe, a great learning opportunity. This is really going to be a unique Lindy Hop event & a very positive experience.

The Event is spread between 2 locations (*mostly) and we advise that you leave ample time for traveling & or taking public transportation. On Friday and Saturday, all events will take place in San Francisco. The main events are at CCSF (City College of San Francisco) and if you are taking public transportation, please use the BART stop at Balboa. It is a short walk from that station to the school – very, very convenient.

The Sunday locations are in Burlingame & the Cal Train stop is the Burlingame Station. It is a very friendly, walkable, cute neighborhood.

Both venues have a ton of FREE parking around them so, this is an added bonus for the event.

If you are staying at the hotel, please make sure you leave yourself time to get to the public transportation, FREE Shuttle, and time for the transportation as well.

Everyone, please be smart about traveling in a foreign city and leave time for traffic, public transportation delays *(reading maps etc), and be smart and travel with a buddy when possible. We will help you to buddy up when leaving events and you can post on our Facebook page about needing rides as well.

Cumberland Shuffle is a dance event dreamed up by the dynamic duo of Breanna Perry and Morgan Kestner, sometimes known as "20 Club!". For this event, the aim is to bring together dancers for an invigorating weekend focused on the more vintage dances of the swing genre. We want to provide a fun environment for other dancers to be inspired by the rich roots of swing dancing, and a chance to delve into anything "Old-Timey". Most of all, we want to give dancers a weekend full of all the aspects that drew us to dance in the first place: great music to move our feet, classes to challenge our minds, social dancing to stimulate our soul, and great people to do all these things with. Most of all, we want to provide you with a dance event you won't soon forget; a one-of-a-kind time you look forward to again and again!

the First Annual Emerald Coast Lindy Exchange

If you agree with us that dancing to amazing live jazz and swing for days on end and hangin' out with good folks in some of the most beautiful country in the world sounds like a great time then you need to head to Humboldt County for the first annual Emerald Coast Lindy Exchange! The Exchange runs concurrent with the Redwood Coast Jazz festival in Eureka, CA - three days of live music featuring 5 full-time venues (three dance venues), dance contests, 15 bands and over 85 sets of live music. Weekend Passes give you all-venue access to every single set performed! An amazing opportunity to dance to some fantastic live music with some of the best jazz bands from around the country!

But wait...we don't stop there! What would be an exchange without late night dancing right? Those registering through the exchange website will also get full access to our exclusive late night venue! Friday and Saturday nights we'll keep the music going until 3:00 AM at our Redwood Raks Dance venue in Arcata with more live band sets and hot dj music. We want to keep the dancing going ALL WEEKEND LONG! We're going to kick off our first ever late night at the exchange with the Stolen Sweets from Portland! These folks are bringing a red hot jazz blend of the sounds of the Django with the Boswells wit their own original interpretations. You need to register through the exchange for free access to the late night venue.

More social dancing: Our biggest focus at Mile High Blues is social dancing. After all, we all travel around the country to these events for one reason--to dance! Mile High Blues has more social dancing and fewer competitions and performances, to maximize the amount of time you get to spend on the floor.

Stellar competitions: We will still have a few competitions, and this year we're bringing back two favorites, the Strictly and the Social Jack-and-Jill. In the past these have given some exciting and inspiring performances! And, true to our mission, both competitions have minimum impact on your social dancing. Prelims take place away from the social floor and the finals typically last less than 20 minutes. And both finals will be done to live music! Speaking of which...

More live music: We're adding a couple more acts so we can have live music every night of the event! Ronnie Shellist, Erica Brown, Gerry Hundt and Sean Morse are all returning this year, plus we've got a few surprises as well. All of our bands and musicians are local, too. We support local music!

Workshops: There will be three tracks, plus a few Masters classes and some Electives that everyone can enjoy! We're bringing back some past favorites like Solo Blues and Harmonica, and bringing some new ones that are sure to be favorites.
